“3 Reasons Why You Should STOP Using  Home-Advisor for Leads, Immediately.”

If you are tired of paying big bucks for mediocre leads, that are hard to get ahold of, are shared with other competitors and barely pay for themselves, you need to read this letter, where I show you how you can stop being a slave to someone else’s system and generate these leads for yourself.

 

Hello, my name is Craig Osterhoudt. I own a home improvement company here in the Las Vegas Valley. During my tenure owning contracting and home improvement companies in Las Vegas, I have learned the secrets to profitable, affordable lead generation, that keeps my marketing budget low, and allows me to make much more money than when I was using Home Advisor. Reason #1Low Closing Percentage

If you use Home Advisor, you are well aware that your leads are shared with 3 to 4 other companies. Giving you a 25 to 33 percent chance of getting the job. However, did you know that according to NARI, only about 50 percent of leads actually move forward with any home improvement project after requesting a quote? This reduces your odds and makes your chances of getting the job even worse.

Also, of those who move forward with a project, 67 percent of the time, they go with the first person to make a presentation. So, unless you are sitting around waiting by the phone, you have a very small chance of getting the job. But I don’t have to tell you, you probably already know what percentage of the Home Advisor leads you are closing, and unless you are happy about spending that much money for such a small closing percentage, you may want to keep reading.

 

Reason #2Missing out on Prospects

– A lot of people just don’t want to fill out all that crap before calling someone. As stated above, a very high percentage of people who request an estimate, do not move forward with the project at all. That’s because they are just getting pricing for now to help with future planning. People who are ready to buy now are more likely to just call someone, now, immediately and get things done. Especially for smaller projects, they don’t want to fill out 8 pages of personal information before they can just call someone to get their project completed.

And, maybe they don’t want 5 different people bugging them about a project. They know about how much they want to spend, they want to get ahold of one person, who’s pricing falls in line with their expectations and get the job done. People already get too much junk email. Now in one quote request, I’m going to get 4 more people filling up my inbox? I don’t think so.

Don’t get me wrong, a lot of people do go through all the motions and fill all that information out. But, if Home Advisor is your only lead generation method, you are missing out on all the people who don’t want to fill all that stuff out, and just want to call someone and get the job done.

 

Reason #3Building Their Business Instead of Yours.

This is by far THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON. Your marketing dollars should be going towards building your branding and marketplace presence not theirs. Essentially, they are using your marketing dollars to build their business. The more money you give them, the more they become entrenched in the marketplace, making it harder for you to become self-sustaining.

See there is a difference between what Home Advisor pays to get a lead, and how much they charge you for that lead. The difference in that cost is basically, Home Advisor mark up or profit. Home Advisor uses that markup to build their online presence, increase their online rankings and pay salespeople to sign up more contractors, and get more of your competitors paying for your leads, making it harder for you to close them.

As the months go by, you spend more and more money building someone else’s business, that just makes no sense to me. Every marketing dollar has 3 purposes. First of course is to generate a lead. But that same marketing dollar can do other things besides just generating a lead. That marketing dollar can boost your presence in the marketplace and third build your brand awareness. Why not use your marketing dollars to generate leads and build your own presence not someone else’s?

Trust me, Home advisor is doing nothing to build your brand awareness, every dollar you send to them goes to building their brand awareness. Even though you may be getting reviews on their website, prospects still need to go to the Home advisor website to see them.

You should be building a review profile across all channels, Yelp, Google, Yahoo, Houzz, Bing, Facebook, etc. So why do contractors continue to give more and more marketing dollars to Home advisor? Well the answer is they aren’t aware of any better alternative, but that is about to change as you read the next few paragraphs.
